Rana’s Kitchen

I’m not a chef…sometimes, not even a good cook. I prepare my own food because I like to keep my diet clean and healthy. I creatively combine healthful ingredients to make tasty, medicinal meals. That’s how I cook my medicine.
I will share with you nutritional tips that are meant to strengthen your immune system. Every now and then, I will also share with you a recipe. You may not get specific serving sizes because I usually make extra so I can have left overs for lunch. What you will most definitely get are foods and food combinations that are designed to heal you…
Bovine Colostrum
One of the most potent immune tonics ever discovered is a nutrient complex found in mothers’ milk in the first days after birth.
Bovine colostrum – harvested from cows right after giving birth – has up to 40 times the immune factors of human colostrum and is one of the best nutritional ways to strengthen immunity.
Bovine colostrum has been shown to be effective against autoimmune imbalances such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus and fibromyalgia:
- Colostrum has been shown to help rejuvenate and regenerate damaged body tissue e.g., bones, skin, muscles, cartilage, and nerve tissue
- Colostrum can be used for counteracting viruses and dangerous bacteria
- Additionally, it helps build healthful intestinal flora
I buy Bovine Colostrum through SurThrival, a company in the field of natural health, that I strongly support. True Colostrum must be harvested within 6 hours from the birth of the calf, before the colostrum transitions into normal mothers milk. SurThrival Colostrum is the only independent 3rd party verified true “6 hour” Colostrum. This Colostrum is from organically raised cows and only harvested after the newborn calves get their share.
You can also visit SurThrival’s website to learn more about their product line-up and what their company has to offer.
Chia Seed Pudding
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened almond, hemp, or coconut milk
- 3/4 cup fresh blueberries, blackberries and raspberries
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp Manuka honey or raw local honey
- Combine the almond, coconut or hemp milk with the chia seeds in a glass
- Thoroughly stir the chia seeds and milk with a fork. Set aside for 15 minutes and then give it another good stir
- Refrigerate until very thick and pudding-like, at least 4 hours or overnight (As chia seeds soak in milk, they create a tapioca-like pudding)
- When the consistency becomes thick add a drizzle of honey and any sliced fruit you enjoy – sliced banana, peaches, fresh berries, or mango – to make the chia seed pudding even tastier!
- Place fresh blueberries, raspberries and blackberries in a saucepan with a little bit of water, agar, camu camu, pomegranate and / or acai powder
- Bring to a boil and then pour over the pudding
- Place back in the fridge for another 30 minutes until the mixture cools down and thickens
- Top with fresh berries – delicious!
